WHY FAMILIES NEED AGAPE'CARE CRADLE

WHAT WOULD IT BE LIKE TO LOSE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN YOUR LIFE UNEXPECTEDLY?

·        Who would that be?  A close family member?  A dear  friend?  What is their name?

·        Is it hard to even think about losing somebody you love?

·        What if no one but you knew your loved one?

·        What if your loved one did not even have a name?

WELCOME TO AGAPE’CARE CRADLE

AgapéCare Cradle is a special nonprofit licensed funeral center in Wichita.

AgapéCare was founded as an idea in 1997 by a newborn intensive care RN who attended mortuary school following the sudden tragic death of a baby boy born to close personal friends.  AgapéCare Cradle has developed into a model program designed that meets funeral and memorial service needs inherently unique to parents who suffer the loss of a baby.

About 100 stillbirths and infant deaths occur naturally in Sedgwick county each year.  Grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, other extended family, friends of the families, co-workers, colleagues and employers are all impacted by these losses.

CRADLED IN OUR ARMS

On March 10, 2007 our little girl Annie Grace was born at 23 weeks 2 days, weighing only 1 pound 3 ounces.  Two hours and eight minutes later, our precious Annie made the transition from earth to heaven while cradled in our arms.  How it broke our hearts to let her go!

When we arrived at Agape’Care Cradle, we expected to be ushered to a room where the first glance of our daughter would be one of her laying in a casket.  We were thankfully surprised when Annie was brought to us wrapped in a blanket and gently placed in her mother’s arms. We held Annie cradled in our arms the whole time we made funeral arrangements.

I can’t imagine what it would have been like to lose Annie Grace without Agape’Care Cradle’s special help and loving care.

AGAPE'CARE CRADLE

The loss of a baby merges two uniquely and highly emotional life events: birth and death. Months of expectant anticipation, shattered by the stark realization of loss, forces new parents to face a confusing array of urgent decisions. Mothers recovering from labor and delivery may feel overwhelmed by the logistics of making funeral arrangements. Grieving fathers, family and friends may not know how to receive or offer comfort and support.

It is during this time that parent families need AgapeCare Cradle most - to help them navigate their sea of grief.
